  • College Admission Essays/Personal Statements

  • Creative Writing

My editing focuses on clarity, readability, and structure while preserving the author’s original voice and intent. I do not write papers or generate content on a client’s behalf, but instead, help strengthen existing work so ideas are communicated clearly, accurately, and effectively. I specialize in refining language, improving flow, and correcting grammar. My goal is to support thoughtful, ethical writing through careful, human-only editing.

My Editing Approach

My Story

I grew up with an editor in the house. My dad started his own editing business for scientific research papers in the early 90s. Throughout my school years, he was always there to offer his expertise, however brutal it may have been. At the time, the seemingly endless red marks and multiple revisions were frustrating to say the least, but looking back, they were also incredibly formative.

Those lessons followed me into my graduate school classes and later into my professional career with the U.S. Department of State, where I was often praised for my clarity and conciseness. I’m naturally a woman of few words, and I believe that in writing, every word should earn its place.

I started Double R Editing because I have always wanted to work for myself, and because I find real peace and focus when helping others sharpen their message. There is something deeply satisfying about bringing clarity to ideas and being able to get your point across in as few words as possible.

AI can be an amazing tool and life hack for many areas in life. I’ve been an avid user myself since 2022. I first started using AI for things like writing time-consuming admin emails, coming up with recipe ideas, updating resumes/cover letters, and eventually as a replacement for Google—asking it everyday questions for advice about healthcare, home repairs, car trouble, getting around in foreign countries, and much more.

While AI is incredible at saving time for many mundane tasks, I quickly began to realize that, as an editing and writing tool, it wasn’t all it was hyped up to be. I often found it used boring clichés, which stripped my personality from my written products, and it frequently added inaccurate or misleading information. Don’t even get me started on its formatting “hallucinations.” More importantly, I found that using it too often for help with my writing was detrimental to my natural creativity. At first it felt like I would turn to AI just to save time, but then later it was more like my brain forgot how to devote time to creative thinking.

Lastly, but certainly not least, many people prefer not to trust AI services with their private or sensitive documents. My background in national security has made me a regular sceptic of most things cyber related. Working with a human-only editor will provide a sense of security that is often overlooked when conversing/working with AI chatbots. Your work stays between you and me only.

AI certainly has its place in this world, but lets not let it take over our voices and independent thinking!

AI Shortcomings in Editing

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through the contact form or schedule a call—I’ll walk you through next steps and answer any questions along the way.

I provide all editing using Microsoft Word’s Track Changes feature, so you can see every correction, suggestion, and comment I make. Please send your document to me via email, and I will return the edited version the same way.

  • I aim to provide high-quality editing in a timely manner. Short documents (up to 1,000 words) are typically completed within 1-2 business days, while medium-length papers (1,000-3,000 words) usually take 2-4 business days. Longer or more complex papers may take 1-4 weeks depending on length and depth of editing. Rush requests can sometimes be accommodated (just ask :))

  • Pricing is based on a word count at a flat rate of $0.05 per word. For example, a 1,000-word paper is $50, and a 2,000-word paper is $100.

I accept payments through, Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal.

  • My background in the Intelligence Community has given me a unique perspective on clear and effective writing. I bring that same attention to detail and analytical rigor to every project, helping clients refine their work so their ideas are communicated clearly and confidently. I genuinely enjoy guiding others to improve their writing, and making their complex or important points easy to understand.
